The VP Development will lead conceptual planning, financial underwriting, entitlements, and on-time/on-budget delivery for projects nationwide and participate with the executive team and JV partners in development deal sourcing, deal and partnership structuring, and marketing/leasing visioning.


These positions will be based out of Orlando, Florida and Dallas, Texas.


  • Work directly with the executive team and JV partners to source, underwrite, and execute new development opportunities
  • Business Plan/Strategize on best overall implantation for product type and location within geographic territory
  • Coordinate closing/land purchase efforts, consultant selection, and associated contract negotiations
  • Direct the internal project team(s) and outside consultants in creating an effective strategy for the success of the project(s)
  • Lead the entitlement process from zoning through permit procurement
  • Lead underwriting and investment summary communication with the investment committeeWork with the construction team to ensure the creation of responsible budgets, schedules and design decisions
  • Maintain and monitor project budgets of hard and soft costs from conceptual design through closing of financing
  • Work with the property management team to develop operating budgets and rent assumptions for new development projects
  • Assist the construction team with on-going design decisions, change order approval, and monthly draw requests
  • Effectively transition project(s) at completion to the leasing and property management teams
  • Develop key relationships with general contractors, design professionals, consultants, and industry leaders within the Multi Family industry


Required Experience: 


  • 8 to 10 years of experience in multi-family real estate development
  • A demonstrated ability to build and direct effective teams to manage major development projects

Required Education/Training: 


  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Finance, Real Estate, Engineering, or Building Sciences
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or Real Estate Development preferred

Working Conditions: 


  • Primarily an office environment, must have ability to perform moderate overnight travel to development sites as required by projects.
