The Carpenter's responsibilities include using a number of tools to install and service carpentry to include doors, windows, decks, and any other applicable wood, observing company
safety guidelines, documenting each project and updating client records, being familiar with local code, and training other team members.
The Carpenter should also be able to easily diagnose carpentry issues to make an informed suggestion on whether to replace or repair and provide excellent customer service as well as detailed notes about your findings. Skills should include both rough and finish carpentry as well as drywall install and finishing.
Also required is the ability to read blueprints, use diagnostic tools, be familiar with appropriate building codes, and make decisions under pressure.
1. Complete carpentry related work orders in residential homes.
2. Test, troubleshoot, and replace wooden components of the home to ensure systems function safely and efficiently.
3. Finish and rough carpentry service and installs.
4. Drywall install, repair, and finish work.
5. Replace and/or repair various wooden functions to include but not limited to doors, windows, fencing, subfloors, decking, etc.
6. Work with maintenance staff to train and educate other teammates.
7. Properly document each project and provide written reports. Communicate the findings to the Facility Director and tenant.
8. Knowledge of or willingness to learn basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance.
9. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or leadership.
Required Experience:
Installing, repairing, and servicing residential carpentry- both rough and finish. Interpreting blueprints and drawing rough sketches when required.
Guiding and overseeing other technicians.
Drawing up preventative maintenance measures and explaining these to tenants and other technicians.
Testing and troubleshooting doors, decks, windows, and other carpentry related portions of the home. Updating project records and preparing relevant documents and reports for tenants.
Liaising with clients, vendors, and other maintenance teammates. Speaking intelligently about proper building codes and requirements.
Required Education/Training:
High school diploma or similar. Relevant license or certification. A valid driver's license.
At least 2-4 years of experience as a Carpenter.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Superb customer service skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication.
Experience with power tools and other equipment used in construction. Firm grasp of health and safety and codes.
Patience when teaching apprentices.
Working Conditions:
Work will be completed in occupied and vacant residential homes.
Salary Range Information:
